Answer: The McCarrell Sisters of Travelers Rest!

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

These two girls grew up to be successful women who are well-known in the Greenville area. Sisters Joyce and Nancy McCarrell are now back in Travelers Rest, investing in the future of their hometown. Their new endeavor to restore a popular Travelers Rest landmark was featured in a recent Greenville News article, “Business sisters hop on Swamp Rabbit Trail,” in which Angelia Davis wrote,”They’ll ensure that people using the trail will have easy access to a stop for food, water, a refresher and fellowship. “Coming in the summer of 2008, the McCarrell sisters invite you to come back home to Travelers Rest and enjoy the meeting place you’ve been missing all these years. Located in the old Williams Hardware building at 13 South Main Street, The Café @ Williams Hardware will offer folks a place to stop in off the Swamp Rabbit trail, visit with old friends, have a bite to eat, and enjoy an old-fashioned sense of community.Along with lunch, afternoon snacks, and “suppers to go,” The Café @ Williams Hardware will have an extensive gift shop featuring local produce and food items manufactured in South Carolina. You’ll find everything from Blenheim Ginger Ale to Nana’s Pralines and milk from the Happy Cow Creamery. Since the 1760s, the McCarrell family has called the Travelers Rest area home, and Joyce and Nancy welcome you to sit around the potbellied stove at Williams Hardware and enjoy an old fashioned taste of comfort, community and conversation.Watch for more recent renovations in our blog and we’ll hear from folks in the Travelers Rest community!
