Chris decided to leave the classroom and join us at the café because he enjoys the restaurant business. He says “I believe this is a great opportunity to have a job I will enjoy waking up for in the morning.” He has worked at both Stax’s Original at Cherrydale and at Sullivan’s on Sullivan’s Island, while he was in Charleston. At the Café, Chris will be in charge of the café portion of the business and will work closely with the chef to create wonderful lunches, tasty afternoon snacks and suppers-to-go.Chris shares our vision that The Café @ Williams Hardware will be a one of a kind place, encompassing the characteristics and styles of South Carolina. It’ll be a gathering spot for people to sit and eat, talk and have fun. The menu will be unlike any other in Travelers Rest and we will use as many local products as possible. Lunch will include soups, sandwiches, and salads. You may find a turkey sandwich with dressing and cranberry relish, sausage and rice soup, or maybe even what has become one of Nancy’s favorite things—a BBQ salad. For that tasty afternoon snack, we’ll offer cookies and milk, tea and scones, and cornbread and milk. You would be surprised at the reaction we get to the cornbread and milk idea! Overwhelming! Suppers-to-go will be a great way to provide your family with a good meal without the time and trouble of cooking it, whether it’s BBQ chicken, grilled salmon or lasagna.
Chris says “You’ll love gathering around the pot-bellied stove or out on the screened porch to visit with your friends and family over a great meal. Come to see us—there’s nothing else like it in Travelers Rest.”
